the new Photoshop versions after 5.5 handle PNG alpha in a different way - making the image transparent when you load it so it becomes hard to edit.
the older plugin just reads the alpha channel as a channel like it should. replace your plugin with the attached one - use Search to locate it. Adobe suck. Attached File ( Number of downloads: 309 )

i dunno wat made u bring this up T but just some info about alpha layers anyway.
Basically the Alpha layer is what decides how shiny/reflective your skin will be in game (except snow maps which don't read the alpha layer). If your alpha layer is 100% black then it will have no sheen to it. If it is 100% white, or has not been created which I'm guessing is your problem, the skin will reflect the environment 100% and resemble something close to liquid mercury. If the layer is grey then the skin will reflect 50% etc. Next to the layers tab in photoshop there will be a "Channels" tab. Click that and you will see several channels such as "RGB" "Blue" "Red" etc. This is where you will fix your problem. Make a new channel (the button is the same as create a new layer in the layers tab). It should be labeled Alpha 1 and be all black. So what Terrox has there is a fix that will let you view your png's that have alpha layers on them in photoshop.. :) |

Great news, because for a long time, many kewl skins had these channel problems, not only ours.
I have noticed creative editing using this tho.. for instance, on the Symbiote skin (Venom from Marvel comics) his spider is left 100% reflective, so it looks white until u get in game, then its shiny. Prolly a good thing for small details eh? |

I would recommend keeping your original file. if you ever have to do any real graphics work in png format the older version tends to give problems. at least in my experiences.
